Thanks to everyone who makes this board possible. It has helped me so much.
Bought a Kubota BX23 to work three properties with. I need to move it between all three - a radius of about 15 miles. The BX23 total weigth is 2,500 lbs. +/-.
Question one is probably dumb, but here goes. Can the BX23 be towed behind a truck (mine is a Toyota Tacoma PreRunner) like you see RVs pulling a car behind them with a tow bar?
Question 2: Can anyone recommend a good trailer option for my tractor / truck set up? The truck already has a hitch. I don't have extra help so I need something that I can manage by myself.

LittleRedHen; You'll have to ask someone much more familiar with Kobotas, but I don't think towing is a good option. Most modern tractors rely on pressure lubrication for the transmission and final drive componets so unless you left the motor running I think you could have some problems. Unless you plan on taking other heavy things along I think an ordinary car trailer would be a much safer way. Not being in a metro aeria I just drive mine, five or six miles don't take long. You cannot under any circumstances tow your BX with the wheels on the ground. That will wreck the transmission.
The good news.... You may not break any speed records, but you should have a 5000 pound tow capacity on that Tacoma, which is sufficient to pull a 1500 pound trailer with a 2500 pound tractor on it. ....

The Tacoma won't last many season's if you plan on towing alot. It will probley get you by for a while as long as your travel ways are pretty flat. any type of hills really seem to put it on those trucks when trying to pull a little weight. I think I would get something with a bit more butt. Just my opion.... best of luck. ....

I load my B6100E and Woods 40" rotary cutter on a 16' flatbed double axle trailer. I tow with a 1984 Chevrolet K10 long bed 4WD truck with a 305 engine. Once I upgrade to a BX23, I'm sure I'll want to (need to) add a brake controller (one trailer axle has brakes).
Tacoma is a little light weight for the task, but just around the 15 mile neighborhood every few weeks shouldn't kill it or wear it out. I normally don't tow more than 15-20 miles.

WJBaker, you might want to be careful trailering that little Kubota around.
The 6100E weighs 945 pounds, the Woods mower weighs 315 pounds, that comes to 1,260 pounds without counting the trailer. A run of the mill 16' tandem axle car hauler weighs in the area of 1,500 pounds.
Now you are hauling about 2,760 pounds all in, and unless I'm mistaken the law in Georgia requires a functioning brake system when the trailer and load reaches 3,000 pounds, depending on how heavy duty your trailer is you may already be over that limit.
You might want to check into getting that brake controller sonner rather than later. If there was ever an accident while pulling that trailer brakes would be the first thing they would be looking at as a possible cause. If you had exceeded the limit your insurance company may deny the claim, and any lawyer would see it as a payday.

My trailer is not a car hauler. Instead it is a wood floored (2x8s) 16' long by 8' wide (6½' wide bed) regular trailer. I think I remember the weight in the 1250 pound range.
I agree, I'll need trailer brakes with the new tractor. So far, hauling the B6100 around, I haven't had any problems and the assembly seems to handle OK. Obviously I'm not drag racing with the 305 engine, and the oversize tires further reduce the truck's acceleration. Braking seems to do OK as well (no doubt helped by the oversize tires as well).

I see you live in Texas. If you don't have real steep hills to navigate while going from one property to another, IMHO you'll be fine with a simple, tongue trailer with some ramps that can be attached to the back for easy load and unload. This trailer typically sells new for about $700.00 in my area. Ramps may add a bit to this price. ....
